Who are you?
Terra Civica is a creative media project based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We publish personal stories and peer-reviewed studies meant to restore, renew, and revitalize functional relationships between people and planet.
What makes you unique?
We’re pioneering the field of Natural Civics—an emerging discipline at the intersection of social and environmental factors.
Natural Civics: The interdisciplinary study and applied practice of our rights and responsibilities as citizens of the Earth, reflecting how both social and environmental factors influence the systems and solutions shaping society.
By integrating ecological literacy with the creative arts, we help communities navigate the complexities of today’s local and global challenges with empathy, evidence, and agency.
Who is your audience?
Our community includes educators, students, activists, policymakers, and everyday citizens. If you're curious about how civic understanding can shape a better future for everyone, you’re in the right place.
Are you a non-profit?
No, we’re not a non-profit. We’re a social enterprise, which means we exist to solve social or environmental problems—while also earning revenue. Think of us as a hybrid between a traditional company and a non-profit.
We are self-sustaining through consulting fees and merchandise sales—rolling the vast majority of our profits back into our business in order to provide open-source resources and pro-bono services.
What programs and services do you offer?
We engage in collaborative research, curriculum development, strategic partnerships, and thought leadership. We produce educational materials, host workshops, and partner with institutions to promote community engagement.
How do you ensure your resources are accessible to the public?
We contribute public resources under Creative Commons licensing, allowing our content to be freely used, adapted, and shared.
